Why Choose the WSU Middle Level Mathematics Endorsement Program?
If you are interested in being a better K-5 teacher of math, or if you are interested in becoming a middle level mathematics teacher, the WSU Middle Level Mathematics endorsement is recommended for you.
The endorsement consists of five courses, usually taken in sequence with a cohort of students across multiple WSU campuses via videoconferencing technology. The courses blend supported mathematical problem-solving experiences with discussions about how children learn, and how to develop mathematical understandings in learners. There is a blend of your own mathematical learning and support for your own mathematics teaching.
The State of Washington has perennial shortage of qualified mathematics teachers, and mathematics is an area of academic concern as judged by state achievement tests and international comparisons. The WSU Middle Level Mathematics endorsement is intensive preparation for teaching mathematics that is historically grounded in state credentialing procedures and is preferred in school districts.
